Pascal et Nadia Charpentier welcome you in the Duc du Berry's city of Sancerre

Sancerre owes its name of "Sacrum Cesaris" to Jules César in person, who would have founded our city. By the way ,"Sacrum Cesaris" knows its hours of glory in the Middle Ages. Quantity of medals and Roman coins were found on the spot. Nevertheless, "Sacrum Cesaris" knows its hours of glory in the Middle Ages.

The road Jacques Coeur furrow the Cher department in the center of France, and awakes the memory of" Finance Minister of king Charles VII", of "Colbert" Minister for the king Louis XIV, of "Jeanne d' Arc", the "Princess of Clèves", and the famous novel of "Grand Meaulnes". You will also advance on the traces of George Sand.

While following this historical road you will discover the castles of Boucard, Blancafort, la Verrerie, Maupas, les Aix d'Angillon, Menetou Salon, Argent sur Sauldre... On this course, you will not miss the Palate of Jacques Coeur in Bourges, and the cathedral of Bourges with its astronomical clock and its stained glasses with the thousand secrecies.

The local inheritance offers you a single course of pyramidal barns in a perfect state of conservation, the visit of many Romance churches, the Scottish royal city of Stuarts in Aubigny.

Here there are some Castle to visit.
Castle of Boucard: with its ditches, its watch towers, its four towerss, has a typical medieval appearance . But after crossing the bridge, we enter inside a superb Renaissance court. You will visit the apartments of the "Marshal de Navailles" which was banished there in the XVIIth century.
Blancafort: built in the XVth century on the site of an old XIth century'seigniory. Accomodated by the owners, you will come into an interior whith 's tapestries and superb furnitures.
La Verrerie: a member of the s'family of Scotland built an elegant Renaissance residence which reflected itself in the pond. Discover the XVIth century's gallery with arcades and the sitting room furnished.
Maupas: many memories of "Count de Chambord", claiming with the Royal throne of France, Goblins tapestries and an impressive and single collection of earthenware plates.
Menetou Salon: property of "Jacques Coeur" in year 1448, it shelters a collection of carriage and pair and cars employees by the owners, as well as a saddlery.
La Chapelle d'Angillon: built in the XI and XIIth centuries, it was the residence of "Princes de Boisbel", "Princess of Clèves" and "Sully Minister". It shelters the "Alain Fournier" museum , writer of "Le Grand Meaulnes".
The Jacques Coeur Palate : built in the XV° century, by the Minister of Finance of "King Charles VII", on the Gallo-Roman enclosure of the city. It is remarkable by the demonstration of his comfort in a civil residence of the end of the Middle Ages.
Aubigny sur Nère: The Stuarts'city , Renaissance castle which shelters the museum of Old Free-Scottish alliance and the "Margueritte Audoux"museum .
Argent sur Sauldre: it succeeds the castle built by Marie de Sully in 1501. It shelters the museum of Trades and Traditions of France and a very beautiful collection of earthenware of Gien.
Gien: has been built in 1484 per Anne de Beaujeu. It shelters the International museum of Hunting.

Bussière: an old fortress restored in the XVII° century, on a lake, with a park drawn by "Le Nôtre" and a kitchen garden to visit. You will find there a collection of fishing fresh-water.
